Pépé and Lisette live in Paris. Lisette is a very little girl and Pépé is a very small runt of a Pekingese. Even though Lisette has a hearing problem and Pépé has a way of annoying his family, especially Papa, the Seguin family can’t help but love Pépé almost as much as Lisette does. Still, Pépé puts Papa in annoying situations to the point of not liking him, until one night, something happens! You’ll be surprised to find out that there is more than just an irritating noise to PÉPÉ’S GRAND SNORE!
Pépé, a small runt of a Pekingese lives in Paris with his owner Lisette, who is a very little girl with a hearing problem. Does that stop them from doing things or having a wonderful time together? Not at all, since they have learned to “sign” to each other. They are “bon copains!” (good friends!). Lisette can speak very well, but her hearing is declining and she has learned to read lips. She is very observant of things around her, more than most people. A boy visiting les voisins (the neighbors) next door has a first hand experience of just how handy that can be, when he is faced with the problem of PÉPÉ AND MADAME’S WIG.
Little Lisette Seguin and her petit (little) Pekingese, Pépé, live in Paris with their family. Lisette and Pépé are great friends and love each other very much. They have even learned to “sign” with each other, so that they can “talk,” since Lisette may not be able to hear as well when she gets older. One day when they go out to the ice cream truck to buy a little treat, Pépé climbs into the truck to lick ice cream off of the floor. He ends up riding through the streets of Paris, with Lisette, Papa, and her brother Raoul trying to catch up with him to bring him back home. It’s no surprise that Pépé gets into trouble, but it is a surprise of where he ends up, and just who saves PÉPÉ ON THE CHAMPS ÉLYSÉE!
Get ready for an unforgettable family saga in 1967 Carson Valley, Nevada, as seen through the eyes of sixteen year old Lissy Bloomingson. She reluctantly moves to the valley with her parents and younger brother Roger. Lissy and Roger come to the high desert at the foot of the Sierras as grumpy complainers and long for their cozy suburban lives back in California. Why would God send them out to such a strange place? Things were a lot rougher than they had expected. Would they have the "right stuff" to become real Nevadans? Would they ever be glad that they moved there? Their faith in God would be tested and twirled like a dust devil throws around dead sage and Russian Thistles, and yet, as always, there was hope in God. They had no idea about the romance and adventure that lay ahead—the paint horse and the wild herd, the very stuck-up neighbor girl and best of all, the guy named Buck. Sixteen-year-old Lissy Bloomingson and her family have come to love Nevada with its beauty and hardships and rustic living. They're learning to appreciate the people that they're getting to know, with a sense of God's grace working through certain persons and events in their lives. Lissy and Buck MacCleod start out on a journey of friendship that will take them to unimagined places of the heart. Fun and love can bring you together, but so can difficulty and tragedy. They learn that even the worst things in life could be the most meaningful when it comes to loving each other and sticking together. The decisions that we make have definite and sometimes drastic consequences, more drastic and powerful than a herd of buffalo running through a place that they shouldn't be! He never dreamed of what would happen to him in the Big Barn, and who or what would be in there deciding his fate, but he would be glad later that difficulties sometimes can be the answer to our problems!
Flora is all dressed up to be a flower girl, but doesn't really know why. What was everyone doing at the church today? Who were all those people? She was a little nervous! Did Corrine, Donald, or Moses know? No one else thought to explain it to her until Grandma came by and talked to her about marriage! This book is in color illustrations and verse, with heart and humor, for all ages to enjoy. Grammar school reading level.
